Immigration Officers Arrest 94 In Colorado, Wyoming
DENVER (AP) - Federal officials say they arrested 94 immigrants in Colorado and Wyoming who were convicted of serious crimes, immigration violations, or were immigration fugitives.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials say Monday the arrests were part of six-day nationwide sweep that resulted in more than 3,100 total arrests. Of those arrested by the Denver field office, 92 were arrested in Denver, Aurora and 21 other cities in Colorado. Two arrests in Wyoming happened in Casper and Rawlins.
The sweep comes nearly a year after ICE pledged to focus on deporting illegal immigrants with serious criminal histories and those who posed national security threats.
Nationwide, more than 1,400 had felony convictions that included murder, kidnapping, sexual assault, assault and terroristic threats.
