BOULDER, Colo. (AP) – University of Colorado officials hoping to snuff out an unsanctioned marijuana-smoking gathering on the Boulder campus are warning that police will ticket pot smokers at this year’s 4/20 event.
In the past, officers have mostly monitored the thousands of attendees at the April 20 event for safety reasons.
CU officials said Tuesday the tickets could lead to a $100 fine, revocation of medical marijuana registry cards upon conviction and sanctions for students.

The university also is limiting parking around campus, and it’s hosting a free concert by hip-hop artist Wyclef Jean for students during the typical time of the gathering. Jean sometimes talks during his shows about smoking marijuana.
Meanwhile the State Patrol will be looking for drivers who appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
