1 Dead In Grass Fire On Colorado Plains

IDALIA, Colo. (AP) - Yuma County authorities are investigating after firefighters found a person's body a burned-out car while fighting a grass fire.

The 200-acre fire was reported early Sunday. Volunteer firefighters from Idalia, Hale, Armel, Joes and Wray battled the blaze.

The Yuma County Sheriff's Office says the Colorado Bureau of Investigation is investigating, but the death appears to be an accident. The victim has not been identified.

Several weeks ago, a large wildfire caused at least a half-million dollars' worth of damage on Colorado's eastern plains. Authorities say that fire was sparked by a downed power line. Three firefighters were injured trying to fight that fire.
