GOLDEN, Colo. (AP) – A 39-year-old man has been sentenced in the strangulation death of his ex-fiancee whose naked body was found on the shoulder of highway south of Golden in 1998.

Adam Jesse Dixon pleaded guilty last month to second-degree murder in the death of Sabrina Nicole Stevens. Jefferson County district attorney spokeswoman Pam Russell says a judge Monday sentenced Dixon to 15 years in prison, with five years parole.

Lakewood Police Department’s cold case unit presented the case to prosecutors who in June decided to pursue the case. Police arrested Dixon in Missouri, where he was living at the time, and extradited him to Colorado to face charges.
