The season of spring cleaning is upon us. This does not mean just getting your home in tip top shape.  Do something good for your home and transform your garage into the perfect fun and relaxing space. If you have always dreamed of having your own man cave, or if you want to surprise your man with his own space, then this is the perfect time to turn your garage into something wonderful. It is springtime in Denver, and the weather couldn’t be any better to tackle this project just in time for the summer months.

The first question to ask yourself: What do you want from the man cave? Do you still want to be able to park in the garage, or do you want to totally transform it into the ultimate space?  If you still want to be able to store tools in the garage and have a work area, there is a way to have the best of both worlds.

First, clean out the garage and decide what you want to keep. Items that are not being used can be stored in a basement or attic. Items no longer needed can be donated to some great charities right here in Colorado. Buy some wall-mounted racks for your tools and install cabinets, if needed. This way, you will have your tools organized and accessible while also making room for the fun stuff.

Once all of the clutter is taken care of and the space is clean, work on the flooring. This can range from installing totally new flooring to simply adding some area rugs to warm up the space. Consider adding tiles, concrete slabs or cement paint. Next, make sure that you have heat for winter months and air conditioning for the hot summer months. It’s also important to make sure the electric system is up to code, and that you have what you need to suit your personal needs.

Next add items such as a comfortable recliner and sofa to make it possible to watch the big game on a plasma or LCD television. A pool table, arcade games and a card table are all other fun options to consider. The space won’t be complete without a CD player, Blu-Ray player and a great surround sound system.

Last, but not least, a man cave is not finished without a refreshment area, which can include a small refrigerator and even a wet bar.

With all of these tips and the many resources in Denver, you won’t want to leave your fun new space. Our beautiful city has several local businesses to help create your perfect man cave.  Check out some of the great ideas below.
