AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) – Aurora police have invited the public to take advantage of a free child seat checkup event.

Parents and caregivers are urged to have their children’s car seats checked. The event will take place at Aurora Fire Station No. 9 located at 17200 East Mexico (just east of Mexico and Buckley). It will run this Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Crashes are the leading cause of death for children from 3 to 14 years old.

Those who are unable to attend the event can make an appointment with Aurora police at a later date to have child car seats inspected by calling (303) 739-6423.
