Colorado Prison Escapee Arrested In Arizona

NOGALES, Ariz. (AP) - Federal authorities say a man who escaped from a prison facility in Colorado has been captured in southern Arizona.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in Nogales arrested 42-year-old Hime Corona on Wednesday.

CBP officers at the Dennis DeConcini Port referred a 44-year-old female driver and her male passenger for a secondary inspection of her vehicle when they attempted to enter the country from Mexico.

When officers ran a routine records check, they discovered the passenger was Corona and there was an outstanding arrest warrant for him out of the Colorado Department of Corrections in relation to a "dangerous drugs" charge.

The Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office was contacted and took custody of the Corona while he awaits extradition. The unidentified female driver was released.
