DENVER (AP) — Wisconsin goalie Joel Rumpel made 28 saves in shutting out Denver 1-0 Friday in the first round of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association playoffs.

The Badgers (17-16-2) go for the sweep and a spot in the WCHA Final Five on Saturday.

Wisconsin outshot the Pioneers 30-28, including a 15-5 edge in the third period.

Sean Little scored the Badgers’ only goal at 14:10 of the third period. It was Little’s second goal of the game.

Denver came into the game 10-3-1 in its previous 14 WCHA games, while Wisconsin won four of its last five WCHA contests.

Juho Olkinuora made 14 of his 29 saves in the third period for Denver.
