Suspect Wanted In Multiple Robberies Arrested

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Fort Collins arrested a man wanted for a series of crimes. Andrew Burgess Gregg was arrested for aggravated motor vehicle theft, attempted aggravated robbery and aggravated robbery.

Police were investigating the theft of a stolen vehicle at about 6:15 p.m. Tuesday in the 700 block of South Lemay Avenue after the owner had left the 1998 green Nissan Quest van running and unattended outside a business in the area.

Just a few minutes later, a robbery in progress was reported at the Senior Living Center, 2350 Limon Drive. The description of the suspect vehicle in the robbery matched the license plate number of the stolen vehicle.

Witnesses told police that a white man wearing a hooded jacket and mask demanded money from a clerk at the Senior Living Center. When he drew the attention of additional witnesses, he drove off. No one was hurt in the attempted robbery.

At about 6:50 p.m., two additional robberies were reported to police in the area of Corbett Drive and Harmony Road. The first incident was an attempted robbery in the ATM drive thru at the Wells Fargo bank, 2827 E. Harmony Road.

A woman told police that she was trying to leave the ATM drive thru when a man in a van matching the stolen vehicle description blocked the drive. The man was wearing a hooded jacket, dark pants and a mask when he pounded on the victim's car window and yelled at her. The woman backed out of the ATM lane and drove away from the man. That's when he got back into the van and drove away.

At about the same time, police received a report of a robbery at the Subway restaurant, 2815 E. Harmony Road, next to the Wells Fargo bank. Employees of the sandwich shop told police a that a man wearing a black jacket and black pants with a bandana over his face ran into the store and demanded all of the money.

The man then jumped over the counter and grabbed money out of the cash register. The employees believe the man was armed because he had something in his hand that was covered. He took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene. A witness followed the man out of the business and south on foot toward a hotel in the area.

When police arrived they found the stolen Nissan Quest van parked directly in front of the Subway restaurant. The keys to the van were lying on the sidewalk just outside the door of the Subway.

When police arrested Gregg, 24, of Windsor, he had multiple outstanding warrants for his arrest from the Western Slope area. Officers also found a significant amount of cash stuffed into his pants.

Gregg was booked into the Larimer County jail on outstanding warrants. On Wednesday, police served Gregg with the additional arrest warrants.

Detectives believe Gregg may have discarded several items, including clothing, as he ran away after the Subway robbery. The items may help police with the investigation.

Gregg may also have had contact with a person in a car at or near the Hilton Garden Inn, 2821 E. Harmony Road. Police are asking anyone with information about the items found in the vicinity of the robbery or any witnesses to any of the above events to contact Detective Lynd at Fort Collins Police, 970-221-6557 or Crime Stoppers, 970-221-6868.
