Advocates Head To Montrose After Murder-Suicide
MONTROSE, Colo. (AP) -- A Colorado advocacy group is headed to Montrose following a murder-suicide in which a man shot and killed his estranged wife's girlfriend before turning the gun on himself.
Members plan to visit Montrose on Wednesday and Thursday to offer training to members of the district attorney's office, the police department and a domestic violence advocacy group.
The Colorado Anti-Violence Program works to prevent violence within and against the gay community.
They also hope to meet with the estranged wife, Patricia Briggs, to offer support services.
The Montrose Daily Press reported that Briggs and Charity Gilbert were picking up Briggs' four children from Randy Briggs on Feb. 25 when Randy Briggs shot Gilbert and then killed himself.
Police Chief Tom Chinn says investigators haven't concluded whether Gilbert's sexuality was a motive.
