Waterton Canyon Once Again Open To The Public
JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - This weekend hikers and mountain bikers, fishermen and women can head out to Waterton Canyon once again.
After more than a year and a half, Denver Water re-opened the area for recreational use. It was closed in the summer of 2010 because of a massive dredging project at the Strontia Springs Reservoir.
The $29 million project was needed because the reservoir was filled with sediment and debris from wildfires and heavy rains.
The canyon was supposed to re-open by the end of last year, but the dredging work was delayed.
