DENVER (AP) -- Coloradans have until the close of business Friday to submit comments on the state's draft plan for improving its passenger and freight rail systems.
The Colorado Department of Transportation is required to develop the plan before the state becomes eligible for federal funds for rail projects. State officials anticipate people are waiting until the last minute to comment.
The draft plan includes a list of projects proposed around the state but also notes an upcoming study of potentially adding a high-speed rail system along Interstate 70 between Eagle County and C-470 in the Denver area.
A goal of the draft plan is to guide investment in future rail projects as a way of supporting economic growth and moving large numbers of people on transportation corridors.
