Wolf Creek Ski Area Eyes Possible Expansion

PAGOSA SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) -- Wolf Creek Ski Area wants to hear from the public about its future as it develops long-term plans for the next 10 to 20 years.

The ski area in southwest Colorado is looking at possible expansions into the San Juan National Forest; adding some lifts and on-mountain facilities; and upgrading some lifts. It also is exploring using shuttles to bus visitors over Wolf Creek Pass to the ski area, rather than adding more parking.

Wolf Creek has water rights for snowmaking, and it sees itself fully using those rights in the next couple of decades.

Wolf Creek Ski Area President Davey Pitcher says those are just ideas. The ski area is having public information meetings March 6-8 to hear what the public thinks about those ideas.
