Police Believe 1 Man Responsible For String Of Robberies

DENVER (CBS4) - Police believe the same man has been holding up several businesses across the metro area.

Investigators in Aurora, Denver and Parker believe the thief has hit nine restaurants and a gas station in the last month.

Police say the suspect has an aggressive style that would make anyone uneasy and it's all been caught on camera. He robbed an Aurora store Wednesday night and earlier in the month he tried to rob a Denver Subway location.

The owner of the Denver Subway store says she was there when the man came inside and forced a customer to get on the ground before running behind the counter.

"I turned around to my employees and I said, 'Run out the back door,' " the owner told CBS4.

She said she ran inside her office.

"So I closed the door, I locked it and I called 911," she said.

One of her employees faced the criminal before, being ordered to get down.

"The guy was robbing him and said, 'Open the drawer.' And my employee said, 'I'm the little guy here. I don't have access to money.' "

The gunman eventually left without any cash but the owner says he needs to be stopped before someone gets hurt.

"You never know with somebody like that how volatile they are, what their mental state is."

"He's going in, in an aggressive manner, he hops the counter. He's very aggressive," Officer Frank Fania with Aurora police said.

Aurora police and other jurisdictions are hoping the man's unique clothing -- a grey hooded sweatshirt with the number 32 on the back and bright black and yellow Air Jordan sneakers -- will put the man behind bars

Seven out of the 10 robberies were at Subway restaurants, but police say they suspect also hit a Bradley gas station, Dairy Queen and a Papa John's.
