CPSC Issues Recall For Kelty Jogging Strollers

WASHINGTON (AP) - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission on Thursday announced the recall of about 3,000 Kelty single and double jogging strollers, because the front wheel could come loose and cause children and adults to fall.

Three incidents have been reported so far where children that were riding in the stroller suffered minor cuts and scrapes, while adults pushing the strollers sustained cuts, scrapes and broken bones, the CPSC said.

The agency said if the front wheel comes loose while the stroller is being used, the stroller could tip over and cause the child or the adult to fall.

The recall involves Kelty Speedster Swivel Deluxe single jogging strollers and Swivel Deuce double jogging strollers. The strollers have an aluminum frame and a cloth seat with a canopy.

The strollers were sold in blue and gray and orange and gray color combinations. "Kelty Kids" is embroidered on the front of the stroller in the child's leg area. The affected model numbers, which are printed on a tag in the stroller seat area, are: 20090116, 20090216, 20090116B, 20650611, 20650411BLU and 20650411CU.

The strollers were made in the Philippines imported by Boulder-based Kelty, a division of American Recreation Products. They were sold by children's and sporting goods stores across the country, as well as through online retailers, from January 2010 through February 2012 for between $375 and $475.

The CPSC said owners should immediately stop using the strollers and contact Kelty at 866-349-7225, or online at www.kelty.com , for free updated assembly and maintenance instructions.
