Police Release ID Of Man Killed In Aurora Motorcycle Crash

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) - Police have released the identity of a motorcyclist who was killed in a collision on Saturday evening in Aurora.

Lt. Charles DeShazer said officers received a call of two motorcycles driving southbound on Interstate 225 north of East Iliff Avenue.

"The caller stated that the motorcycles were driving recklessly and going about 75 miles per hour passing vehicles on the shoulder," DeShazer said in a statement. "That section of highway is a posted 55 mile per hour zone. Before officers could get to the area, dispatch started receiving calls of a motorcycle accident in the 13100 block of East Iliff Avenue."

DeShazer said two vehicles were stopped in the left and center westbound lanes of East Iliff Avenue while an adult and some children crossed the street.

"One of the motorcycles was able to negotiate around the vehicle on the left and it continued westbound without stopping. The other motorcycle struck the rear end of the vehicle that was in the center lane," DeShazer said.

The motorcyclist that struck the vehicle was taken to a hospital and later died. Police have identified the victim as Kevin David, 31, of Englewood.

"We are still attempting to locate the other motorcycle rider and encourage him or her to come forward and talk with police," DeShazer said.

Nobody else was injured.
