Christo's Over The River Now Planned For 2015

DENVER (AP) — The artist Christo is pushing back the time frame for his Over the River project, which would involve suspending 5.9 miles worth of silvery, translucent fabric over specific sections of a 42-mile stretch of the Arkansas River in Colorado.

His team said Tuesday the exhibition date is now planned for August 2015 instead of 2014.

The U.S. Bureau of Land Management last year issued a record of decision allowing Christo to move forward with his project, but he still needs a few local approvals. Christo's team says it's shifting the exhibition date because the BLM decision was issued several months later than expected, and they want to give the public more time to review detailed plans for installing the project.

The installation will unfold over a period of two years.
