Legalize Marijuana Activists Trying To Get Initiative On Nov. Ballot

DENVER (CBS4)- Activists are trying to get a marijuana legalization initiative on the November ballot.

Friday afternoon members of the campaign Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol turned in another 14,000 signatures to the Secretary of State's office.

Two weeks ago, the organization was informed they were about 2,500 signatures short.

"We are extremely confident we have far more signatures than needed to place this initiative on the ballot and allow Coloradans the opportunity in November to end marijuana prohibition in Colorado," said Campaign to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol spokeswoman Betty Aldworth.

The initiative asks voters whether to make small amounts of pot legal for adults 21 and over.

The Secretary of State's office expects to let the organization know if they have enough signatures by the end of the month.
