First Lady-Bringing Back The Arts!

The First Lady of Denver-Mary Louise Lee-is hosting a music competition only for Denver Public High School students to bring back the arts to DPS.

The event is a music competition for soloist, rappers, bands and instrumentalists. High school students in Denver Public Schools are asked to submit a 5 minute music audition.  The submission should be audio only.  Not video.  Mary Louise-Lee says it’s more important for the judges to hear your talent first rather than see your talent.  She says they will be able to see you soon enough.

The first deadline is Feb 27th, 2012. Students should submit their demos to their music teachers. Followed by the final competition taking place March 18th 2012 at the Bluebird Theatre.

She says the program could expand in the future.  However, right now they are starting with just Denver Public Schools.  Any monies raised in these efforts will be used to hire more DPS teachers for the arts.
