Mercury Spill Keeps Health Department Closed
DURANGO, Colo. (AP) -- The health department in Durango remains closed while crews continue to clean up a mercury spill.
The San Juan Basin Health Department is closed at least through Thursday after a small amount of mercury spilled when a blood-pressure machine broke.
The health department says about 100 people had to be evacuated when the spill occurred on Tuesday. The health department has not said when it will reopen.
