Currently, 60 percent of all companies use credit history as a pre-employment screening tool. But Senator Morgan Carroll of Aurora is trying to change that. She is the sponsor of Senate Bill 3 which calls for a limit on when employers can check your credit.
If you are applying for a job where you deal with large sums of money or you are a person in a positionof trust dealing with the elderly or vulnerable, credit checks are justifiable.
Senate bill 3 goes before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Feb 13th at 1:30. It is open to the public. You can also reach Senator Carroll by email- morgan.carroll.senate@state.co.us
