The truancy recovery team (also known as people who will stop you from skipping school) is in full effect in Aurora Public Schools.
Today, along with Superintendent John Barry, they began a knocking/calling campaign at the homes of students who have been truant. If past performance is any indication, it’s working. Last year, nearly half of APS students had no habitual truants.
– 45% of elementary schools had no habitual truants or showed some decrease in the percentage of habitual truants.
-50% of middle schools showed a decrease in the percentage
-40% of high schools had no habitual truants last year.
As a result, drop out rates in APS have decreased for the 5th consecutive year.
