DENVER (AP) — U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood says it’s important to provide funding for public transit.
LaHood was in Colorado on Monday to view construction of the Denver area’s light rail system. Gov. John Hickenlooper and Denver Mayor Michael Hancock joined him.
The Regional Transportation District is adding a western line to its light rail system. A $308 million federal funding agreement is helping pay for the work.
President Barack Obama has made transportation projects part of his plan for adding jobs, and LaHood promoted that message during his visit.
