DENVER (AP) — Colorado got plenty of snow over the past month, but not enough to boost the statewide snowpack significantly.

State conservationist Phyllis Philipps of the Natural Resources Conservation Service says Colorado’s statewide snowpack was 72 percent of average as of the first of this month, about two-thirds of last year’s readings at this same time.

The increased snowpack totals across western Colorado were somewhat offset by decreased snowpack across the southern and eastern basins. The agency says southern and southeastern basins saw significant decreases in their snowpack after a stellar start to the season.
