RANGELY, Colo. (AP) – Authorities say a 17-month-old boy has died after he was run over by a small front-end loader driven by his father.

The Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Department said Monday the front-end loader was backing up when the child was run over Sunday outside a residence in an unincorporated area near Rangely.

No names have been released.

The sheriff’s department says the boy was taken to Rangely District Hospital with massive head injuries. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The sheriff’s department says no charges have been filed.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation is helping Rio Blanco deputies with the investigation.

There but for the grace of God go I……such a tragic accident that could have happened to anyone. As a parent to 4 little ones I know that sometimes very bad things happen to good people, and such is the case here. My heart goes out to the parents, especially the dad who did nothing wrong. His pain must be unimaginable, but I hope he knows there are so many praying for him, his son, his wife, and their entire extended family.
