Police Arrest Kidnapping Suspect, Pueblo Girl Found Safe

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) - Police in Colorado Springs have arrested the man they believe kidnapped a 9-year-old girl and kept her for 18 hours.

The girl who was the subject of the Amber Alert was found safe Friday morning.

Police arrested Jose Garcia at a bus stop at the corner of Kiowa and N. Nevada Ave. in Colorado Springs Friday afternoon.

The girl is from Pueblo and was found in Colorado Springs at a gas station near Commerce Center and Woodmen. Her mother said she went missing while on her way home from school and an Amber Alert went out statewide about the case.

Witness on Friday said the girl looked like she had been struck in the face at least once. She was taken to Memorial Hospital after being found.

Police in Colorado Springs said there is a suspect in the case who has not been located. His name is Jose Garcia, 29.

Garcia was described as being about 5-foot-7 with a slight build. He weighs between 150 and 160 pounds. He was wearing a maroon shirt with a black hoodie and baggy jean shorts.

He was last seen running away from the gas station.
