Westminster Police Have Video Of Possible Witnesses To Fatal Hit & Run

WESTMINSTER, Colo. (CBS4) - Investigators have released a new video in hope it will help them build their case in a deadly hit-and-run crash in Westminster.

Jenna Breen, 21, died early Saturday morning at 118th and Sheridan when a car plowed into her. Police say the man that hit her was drinking and ran off after the accident.

A make-shift memorial for Breen continues to grow with messages. As family and friends are mourning, police are looking for two additional witnesses in the case.

Westminster police believe there are a man and woman who may have crucial information in the case and want them to come forward.

"I call her my free spirit," Breen's mother Gail Parrish said. "I'm very lucky to have called her my daughter."

A mother never tires talking about her child, but Parrish didn't expect she'd be talking about her daughter like this -- pleading that her daughter's death not be in vain.

She's angry at the alleged driver, Viet Quoc Nguyen.

"He didn't have a license and knew he was drunk," Parrish said.

Early Saturday morning Breen and her friend had gotten off work at the Fox and Hound Tavern in Westminster. They stopped at the International House of Pancakes for breakfast. Police say Nguyen was driving drunk and his car t-boned into Breen's car.

Two men in the other vehicle ran away after the accident. Police in Broomfield found the passenger of the suspect vehicle and a Westminster K-9 unit found the driver, identified as Nguyen.

"I would maybe be able to forgive you if you had stopped and called 911, but you ran and you hid in the bushes. Coward," Parrish said.

Now Westminster police have released surveillance video. Police say it shows Nguyen and his passenger running through the Kohl's parking lot, fleeing the scene, which is just off from the camera's view. Then in another shot police believe that a mid-90s white Volkswagen Jetta followed after the two men running. They believe a Hispanic man and woman in that car may have crucial information for the case.

Parrish is hoping the potential witnesses will come forward.

"We want this case as solid as possible," she said.

Viet will be officially charged Thursday at 1:30 p.m. Court documents indicate he was driving on a revoked license for an alcohol-related offense when the accident happened. His bond is set at $250,000.

A fund in Jenna Breen's name has been set up at any TCF Bank to help the family with funeral expenses.  Breen's funeral is Saturday, Jan. 28.
