Colorado State Tips TCU 95-89 In Double Overtime

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) — Will Bell scored a career-high 23 points and Wes Eikmeier had four of his 21 in the second overtime as Colorado State outlasted TCU 95-89 in a Mountain West opener Saturday night.

Bell also had eight rebounds and blocked a shot that secured the victory for the Rams (12-4, 1-0), who won their seventh straight. Dorian Green added 19 points.

Hank Thorns scored 21 points and Amric Fields 20 for the Horned Frogs (10-6, 0-1), who lost their 12th consecutive conference road game. Garlon Green added 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Horned Frogs, who last won a Mountain West road game on Feb. 13, 2009, at Wyoming.

Eikmeier's 3-pointer put Colorado State ahead 76-65 with 2:45 left, but the Rams didn't score again in regulation. Thorns sank two free throws to cut it to 76-74, and TCU got the ball back, setting up Fields for two game-tying free throws with less than a second to go.

The Rams enjoyed an 80-76 advantage after two baskets by Eikmeier to start the first overtime. Craig Williams made a 3-pointer to give TCU its only lead of the first overtime at 81-80.

Dorian Green made a left-handed layup and Eikmeier sank 1 of 2 free throws to give Colorado State an 83-81 advantage, but Fields' late layup sent the game into the second overtime.

TCU led 89-87 on Garlon Green's dunk in the second overtime, but the Rams scored the next six points to go up 93-89. Bell blocked Kyan Anderson's layup with 23 seconds remaining, and Eikmeier sealed it with two free throws.

The Horned Frogs shot 52 percent in the first half but turned the ball over 12 times and trailed 37-33 at the break.

TCU lost for the first time this season when the game was decided by six or fewer points. The Horned Frogs had won the previous seven in such circumstances.
