If you enjoy listening to good music with friends at the neighborhood pub, you know that a well-stocked jukebox can make all the difference. Jukebox bars provide excellent soundtracks for conversations, or music to get up and dance to. Here are a few of the area favorites:

Although the Lion's Lair is perhaps best known as a punk rock bar, this East Colfax hotspot also has a jukebox stocked with everything from soul and blues to classic rock and metal. Westword Magazine credited Lion's Lair with the Best Jukebox award in 2011. Whether your taste is Miles Davis or Led Zeppelin, and whether you feel like dancing or brooding, the jukebox has something for your mood.

If there's such a thing as a classy dive bar, P S Lounge is the model for it. Every patron gets a complimentary Alabama slammer when they sit down, and every lady is greeted with a rose. Beyond that, the lounge has a jukebox that locals simply rave about. The box contains an eclectic mix of discs that range from Frank Sinatra to Social Distortion. This bar also shares the building with Enzo's pizza, and Enzo's will walk a pie over to you if you get hungry.

Hours: Sun - Thurs 4:30 p.m. - 11:45 p.m.; Fri - Sat 4:30 p.m. - 12:45 a.m.

The historic Cruise Room Bar in the Oxford Hotel has the distinction of being the oldest bar in downtown Denver. It opened back in 1933 when prohibition ended. Although it's more of a sit-down-and-chill place than a get-up-and-dance place, the Cruise Room boasts a well-stocked vintage jukebox, the kind that plays 45-inch record. If you are in a retro kind of mood, stop in for a martini and enjoy some classic big band, soul, or swing tunes. Discover other unique hotel bars in Denver here.

Stepping into the Skylark Lounge is like stepping back in time. This dark-but-not-too-dark lounge has a combination Western/art deco feel, with vintage celebrity photos and pin-ups plastering the walls. It also has a jukebox to match the decor, with a large retro collection of swing, big band, rockabilly and country, along with a few current favorites. There's room to dance, too, if you're so inclined.
