LAKEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4) – Lakewood police said they responded to a call of pepper spray being discharged on a school bus on Wednesday afternoon.
Steve Davis with Lakewood police said officers and West Metro Fire responded to Carmody Middle School at 2050 South Kipling Street around 2:30 p.m.
“The bus was loaded with students and had just left the school. The bus immediately returned to the school,” Davis said in a statement. “Officials determined that a student had been in possession of the pepper spray and that the discharge appeared to be accidental.”
There was about 50 students on the bus but only eight reported effects from the spray. The students were treated at the scene and released.
Davis said criminal charges are unlikely but the school may take some disciplinary action.
