DENVER (CBS Denver) – As Tim Tebow is – improbably – one step closer to the edge of Super Bowl glory, he has gained an unlikely fan: Lady Gaga.
Minutes after Tebow led the Denver Broncos to an overtime upset of the Pittsburgh Steelers on Wild-Card Weekend, the international pop star praised the polarizing quarterback on Twitter for another exhilarating win. Tebow would throw an 80-yard touchdown pass on the first play in overtime to clinch a date with the New England Patriots next week.
“Giants fan but wow,” she tweeted. “#Tebow Thats what the [expletive] a champion looks like.”
The tweet from Gaga, who has more than 17.8 million Twitter followers and is usually not thought of in the same light as the Broncos quarterback, is another example of how far-reaching Tebow’s performance has on people from all walks of life.
It was also a good day of football for the pop star. Her Giants won their first home playoff game since 2000, downing the Atlanta Falcons, 24-2.
After lending her support to Tebow, Gaga vowed to make boeuf bourguignon. Whether the dish was in the shape of Tebow bowing on one knee remains unclear.
