Man Who Fell To Death At 1stBank Center Identified

BROOMFIELD, Colo. (CBS4) - Authorities have released the identity of a man who fell to his death at a concert in Broomfield over the weekend.

Christopher Engel, 20, from Highlands Ranch was at the 1stBank Center early Saturday morning when he fell from the second level. He died on Monday.

Engel was a junior studying computer science at Colorado State University. He also attended Thunderridge High School.

Police say Engel was alone in a restricted area of the arena when he fell.

Engel's grandparents told CBS4 he was a great grandson. He was also a unique champion.

"When he was 11 years old he was the cup stacking champion of the world," Engel's grandmother Dee Engel said.

As a teen he also excelled at hockey.

Engel was an organ donor and his heart and other organs have saved lives.

"That was his legacy to everybody, so he's really around, he's still here," Engel's grandfather Pat Engel said. "He was very athletic, very daring. How he fell off, we don't have the details."

Officials at the arena sent their deepest condolences to Engel's family.
