Police Shoot Person During Fight At Aurora Hotel

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) – A hotel brawl ended in gunfire over the weekend in Aurora.

It happened at the Red Lion Inn at Interstate 225 and South Parker Road, where as many as 1,000 people were ringing in the new year.

Two off-duty officers were providing security, but when several fights broke out they called for backup.

People were fighting on the 8th floor.

Police heard shots fired. As they raced upstairs and say they ran into an armed man in the stairwell and shot him.

His injuries are considered non-life threatening.

Police arrested several people. They are still trying to figure out what set off the fights.

At one point, the hotel was evacuated as police searched for suspects.
