WELD COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- It’s been 15 months since Colorado native David Hartley was reportedly shot and killed while jet skiing on Falcon Lake between the U.S. and Mexico border.

David’s widow Tiffany said they were attacked by cartel members. Now, Tiffany believes his remains have been found.

A fisherman found human remains in Falcon Lake in the same area where Hartley disappeared, about 15 miles north of where Tiffany said she and David were shot at.

“Right now we’re still waiting to find out when or if the remains have been recovered. As far as I know, they haven’t,” said Tiffany.

Now she’s waiting for Mexican authorities to confirm the location of the remains and DNA.

The inquires started after professional fisherman Alton Jones posted this message on his Facebook page Wednesday, “The fishing on Falcon was great. But unfortunately, our fun was overshadowed when we found a dead body on the Mexican side of the lake. The body apparently had been there for a long time because all that was left was the skeleton.”

The discovery was likely made because water levels are down more than 20 feet of normal.

“Everything is in the Mexican authorities’ hands. There’s not a whole lot U.S. authorities can do,” said Tiffany.

Tiffany said GPS coordinates of the body’s location has been passed on to U.S. Border Patrol who notified Mexican authorities. They will retrieve the body since it’s on the Mexico side of the lake.

“We’re really praying this is going to be our miracle before the end of the year and start a new year with David being home and honor him the way he deserves,” said Tiffany.
