New Year's Eve Options Are Numerous

DENVER (CBS4) - It's New Year's Eve on Saturday, and if you haven't planned anything yet, you're not alone.

CBS4's Alan Gionet has a few options for people who just are a little behind in making plans:

Downtown Denver

For the 10th year in a row you can ring in the new year with a big celebration in Downtown Denver.

The two fireworks shows are at 9 p.m. and midnight on Saturday. The best place to view the fireworks is along the 16th Street Mall.

"By having the two shows it allows people to spread that out in terms of whether they have an early dinner or a late dinner and really come down and join the celebration," Downtown Denver Partnership spokeswoman Susan Rogers Kark said.

Many hotels are offering deals and packages for the weekend.

The big celebration is likely to be busy but downtown has tens of thousands of parking spaces and RTD is offering free light rail and bus service to and from downtown from many locations around the Denver metro area.

"I would say with the weather forecast we have we'll be easily over 100,000 people," Rogers Kark said.

But maybe you'd like to get the kids to something just for them -- maybe among the zoo lights.

Denver Zoo's Zoo Year's Eve starts at 5 p.m. with an early countdown at 9 p.m. The kids can even bunk overnight at the zoo.
