Inmate Accused Of Punching Larimer County Deputy

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) -- Authorities say a Larimer County inmate is accused of punching a jail deputy and faces a criminal charge.

The Larimer County Sheriff's office says 26-year-old Devin Wayne Thomas is suspected of punching a deputy who was delivering clean laundry. Officials say the deputy used a stun gun to subdue Thomas.

The sheriff's office says he was charged Friday with second-degree assault for the alleged attack on Dec. 19. Authorities say Thomas has been accused of assaulting jail deputies twice before.

He is housed in the high security area of the jail. The area of the jail is where the sheriff's office says four inmates were accused of causing a major disturbance and charged with rioting in a detention facility last month.
