Fort Carson Unit Returns From Afghanistan

FORT CARSON, Colo. (AP) — More Fort Carson soldiers are home in time to celebrate New Year’s.

About 75 members of the 576th Engineer Company returned to the post on Friday after over four months in Afghanistan.

The soldiers conducted clearance operations while patrolling an area from Kandahar Airfield to Camp Leatherneck. Fort Carson spokesman Randy Tisor said the unit disarmed over 40 homemade bombs found along roads and removed them to protect coalition forces and the public.
