Tiffany Hartley: Husband's Remains May Have Been Found

WELD COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- The Coloradan whose husband was reportedly killed on a border lake in Texas and has been missing for more than a year, said his remains may have been found.

Tiffany Hartley, David Hartley's wife, said he was murdered by Mexican cartel members while the two were jet skiing on a border lake between the U.S. and Mexico in 2010.

A fisherman found human remains in Falcon Lake, the same area where Hartley disappeared. His post on Facebook stated, "Unfortunately our fun was overshadowed when we found a dead body on the Mexican side of the lake. The body apparently had been there for a long time because all that was left was the skeleton."

Hartley said when she received the news about the remains, there were a lot of mixed emotions. After 15 months of waiting, she is cautiously optimistic that those remains belong to David.

"We've been praying and standing in our faith in God thta he was going to bring David home," said Hartley. "I had a mixed emotion between, I guess sadness and I don't wanna say complete joy, but joy that this could be David and the miracle we've been waiting for."

The Zapata County Sheriff told CBS4 that bodies are routinely found on the Mexican side of the lake.
