A Merry Christmas After All For Victims Of Toy Thefts

FEDERAL HEIGHTS, Colo. (CBS4) - It will be a merry Christmas after all for some needy children in Federal Heights after someone stole presents from their neighborhood church.

Since CBS4 reported on the burglary the response has been overwhelming. Generous people started coming by shortly after the story aired on Tuesday. Now the Thrive Church has toys and much more.

Saturday night during the children's Christmas program a Grinch or two took off with two boxes of toys. They were the only gifts some needy families would get.

"People started driving in and we got phone call after phone call," Pastor Bo Sosa said.

In just hours more than 300 toys were donated and they just keep coming, like the gifts from the Douglass family. The giving was grandma's idea.

"Because they need them far more than we need them at our house and my kids have learned to always give," Karyl Frederiksen said.

Some people gave cash. Now Sosa plans to go shopping with the children for shoes.

"They cut off the tips of their shoes because they've grown out of their shoes, they're too tight," Sosa said. "There's a scripture that says that God turns everything around for our good and that's what he has done."

The shoe shopping trip is planned for Thursday.
