DENVER (AP) – Unemployment in Colorado continues to slowly decline.

The state labor department said Tuesday that Colorado’s unemployment rate was 8 percent during November, one-tenth of a percentage point lower than in October.

The national unemployment rate also declined a bit to 8.6 percent.

However, a survey of Colorado employers over the same period found that the number of jobs in the state decreased by 4,500 in government and the private sector.

The unemployment rate is based on a survey of households and includes people who are employed by others as well as those who are self-employed. The department’s chief economist, Alexandra Hall, said that could account for part of the difference in figures.

Colorado lost 151,000 jobs between April 2008 and January 2010 before it slowly started adding jobs again.
