Squirrels Dying In Cheesman Park, Rat Poison Found

DENVER (CBS4) - Denver Parks and Recreation is following up after several squirrels died at a popular park.

A half dozen squirrel carcasses were found at Cheesman Park. They were near a container of rat poison in the northeast corner near 13th and Franklin.

Crews spent the day looking around for any more squirrels and more signs of poison. They're also urging people to be careful.

"Throughout the weekend we've had park rangers out just kind of letting the public know that we did find some rat poison and to be careful with their dogs," Angela Casias with Denver Parks and Recreation said.

It's not known how the poison got there. Anyone with information is asked to call the city of Denver.
