Big Brothers Big Sisters Of Colorado A Rewarding Program

DENVER (CBS4) - J.J. calls her "big sister" Stacy Clark the "best sister ever."

They aren't related, but they met six months ago through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Colorado and became fast friends.

The organization helps children from low-income single family homes reach their full potential through professionally supported one-to-one mentoring relationships.

After J.J.'s mom passed away, her dad called Big Brothers Big Sisters. For Stacy's part, she already has a younger brother and always wanted a little sister. The program has been very rewarding.

There is an extensive process to go through in order to become a mentor. There's an interview and meetings with a counselor, all in order to find the right match.

For J.J. and Stacy, they have a lot of things in common, like cooking, dancing, shopping, all the "girlie things."

Both say it's an extended family for each of them, and they happily call each other "sis."
