Eddie Royal Surprises Young Patient At Children's Hospital

DENVER (CBS4) - A young patient at The Children's Hospital named Jake suffers from neurofibromatosis and has had a real tough time. But like most 14-year-olds, he loves football and the Denver Broncos.

One of Jake's favorite players is Broncos wide receiver Eddie Royal. When CBS4 told Royal about Jake, he jumped at the chance to meet him. And Royal's visit to the hospital was just the first surprise for Jake.

"He's inspiring me, everything that he's been through. He's got a lot of strength and a lot of courage," Royal said.

Royal came bearing gifts. He brought a hat, a jersey, and a football signed by the whole team.

Jake said he watches the Broncos every Sunday and even though he was stuck in his hospital bed, he was obviously happy to meet a Denver Bronco. Royal offered to take Jake to this Sunday's Broncos game against the New England Patriots. He'll get a chance to watch Royal warm up on the field before the game and meet some of his other favorite players.

Jake said he also likes Tim Tebow, of course.

"I'll try to bring him by so you can meet him," Royal told Jake.

Jake told Royal he plays fantasy football and has Royal in his lineup.

"He's putting the pressure on me," Royal said.
