Alabama’s McElwain Reportedly Heading To CSU

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) — Colorado State has called a news conference for Tuesday to introduce its new football coach amid reports that it’s Alabama offensive coordinator Jim McElwain.

McElwain would replace Steve Fairchild, who was fired last week by new athletic director Jack Graham after going 16-33 in four seasons with the Rams, including three straight 3-9 finishes.

McElwain, who’s preparing for the national championship against LSU in January, joined the Crimson Tide in 2008 after serving as an assistant at Fresno State, Michigan State, Louisville, Montana State and with the Oakland Raiders.

A spokesman at Colorado State, Kyle Henley, declined to confirm a report in the Denver Post that McElwain would be introduced as the Rams’ new head coach, and nobody at Alabama was available to speak about the matter.
