Funeral Services Held For Noel Cunningham

DENVER (CBS4) - Funeral services were held Friday for Noel Cunningham. The humanitarian and owner of Strings restaurant took his own life last week.

Bagpipes played as friends, family members and dignitaries packed into Saint John's Cathedral.

Gov. John Hickenlooper read a verse from the Bible and former Gov. Bill Ritter gave the eulogy.

"Noel's last act doesn't diminish any of the great things that he did for people around the world," Ritter said.

Cunningham and his wife Tammy raised millions of dollars to help fight hunger and poverty in Colorado and around the world.

Cunningham also understood the ripple effect of giving. He encouraged Denver children to become involved in his Quarters for Kids fundraisers. All money raised benefited children in Ethiopia.

Cunningham was 62 years old.
