RTD Seeks $70,000 From Driver For Accident

SUPERIOR, Colo. (AP) - Metro-Denver public transit authorities are seeking $70,000 from the driver of an SUV for damages to a bus that plowed into her wrecked vehicle on US 36.

The Regional Transportation District sent Holly Hunt a letter asking for the damage over the Nov. 2 collision that happened after she rolled her SUV on the highway between Denver and Boulder.

The Colorado State Patrol cited Hunt for careless driving and no proof of insurance. A good Samaritan had rescued Hunt and a passenger when the RTD bus driven by a mechanic hit the wreckage. The bus driver was not cited.

RTD spokesman Scott Reed says the chain of events sparked by Hunt caused the accident. Reed says the claim is being sent to her insurance.
