3 Suspects In Brighton Fight Appear In Court

BRIGHTON, Colo. (CBS4) - Three people who are facing multiple charges after a weekend brawl in Brighton made their first appearances in court on Monday.

Brighton police are still investigating the melee, which left two people shot and two stabbed.

The fight happened shortly before 2 a.m. on Sunday. Police were called to an apartment on 18th Avenue and wound up arresting a man named Kevin Taylor, 40, a 15-year-old girl and a 17-year-old male. Police weren't saying what the relationship was between the suspects.

The shooting victims were a 20-year-old male and a 19-year-old male and the stabbing victims were a 17-year-old girl and a 22-year-old man. Officials said David Ranser, one of the shooting victims, was in critical condition at Denver Health Medical Center on Monday.

The three suspects were picked up later on Sunday and now face multiple felonies. They were all advised of the charges in Adams County Court in Brighton on Monday. Taylor will be back in court for formal filing of charges on Wednesday afternoon.

Desiree Lopez, a neighbor who talked to CBS4, said the news of the fight came as a shock.

"It's surprising. It really is. It's just people were there at the wrong time and it just sucks," Lopez said.
