Suspect Arrested After Botched Home Invasion

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (CBS4) - A man believed to be involved in a botched home invasion in Mesa County has been arrested.

Police said Joshua Ringold and two others tried to rob a home in the Orchard Mesa neighborhood near Grand Junction.

Police said Ringold and his partners successfully broke into the home but they were confronted by the homeowner. Then at some point, Ringold shot the homeowner and accidentally shot his 16-year-old accomplice.

The 16-year-old died. The homeowner was hit in the stomach and survived.

SWAT teams surrounded a neighborhood Ringold was believed to be in Saturday, but he escaped. He was finally taken into custody on Sunday.

The third man has already been arrested and is facing robbery and burglary charges.
