New 'Tom Sawyer' Production Captures Twain's Fun, Adventure

DENVER (CBS4) - The new production of Tom Sawyer in Denver by Laura Eason captures the fun and adventure of Mark Twain's novel -- especially in the staging.

CBS4's Critic at Large Greg Moody says that while the play may lack a bit of the darkness that even Tom Sawyer carries in its prose, it's an entertaining journey into a boy's life.

"It has a great cast, too, from Stanton Nash in the lead role to Drew Cortese in a variety of roles," Moody said.

Moody says the play is "fun, fast paced and engaging" and that it's perfect family fare.

"It serves as an easy introduction to Mark Twain, to America's past and to live theater. You can't beat that," Moody said.

"Adventures of Tom Sawyer" runs through Dec. 18 at the Space Theatre in Denver.
