Hickenlooper, Hancock Serve Thanksgiving Meals
DENVER (AP) - Nearly 400 people turned out for the Denver Rescue Mission's annual Thanksgiving banquet.
Gov. John Hickenlooper and Denver Mayor Michael Hancock were among the volunteers serving food mission's downtown shelter on Wednesday.
CenturyLink offered guests free long distance calls. Each person at the banquet also received a new hat, gloves and scarf set on their way out.
Another 400 people were served at the mission's transitional housing complex across town.
The mission is also giving away 17,000 turkeys to families who need them after a last-minute plea for more donations. The group only had about 400 in its freezer last week.
